The fall season is just around the corner and I’m giddy with excitement. It’s my favorite time of the year for fashion, and it might now be my favorite time for makeup as well.
That’s because NARS has a new lineup of lip pigments that have inspired me to take my lip game to a new level. I’ve never been one for matte lip colors, but after using the NARS velvet matte lip pencils and now the Powermatte lip pigments, I’ve become a convert.
Offered in a range of vibrant and earthy tones, NARS PowerMatte Lip Pigment glides on easily just like the limited edition lip gloss from a few years ago. It’s lightweight and has a long-lasting formula with color that remains on even after drinking coffee and eating a meal.
Here I am wearing “Get Up Stand Up” before (left) and after a few hours (right). The color has faded just a little after eating a meal…
If you generally have dry lips like I do, I recommend applying lip balm as a primer because matte lip colors will tend to feel drier than the usual lip color.
The applicator brush has a spongy, yet firm, pointed tip that makes it easy to line your lips and apply the color. You actually could get away without using a lip pencil, which is perfect for someone like me who likes as few steps as possible when applying makeup. I’m all about that 10-minute makeup routine!
The names of the colors pay homage to music and songs that we all grew up with. I’m wearing a few of my favorite colors here, plus a super dark color that definitely got me out of my comfort zone. I felt like I was channeling Lily Munster there for a moment.
