I have to admit that I’ve become slightly obsessed with skin care lately. Is this what happens when you get older? I doubt it’ll get to the point where I think about getting botox or plastic surgery, but I definitely want to keep it looking fresh and smooth.
I was just introduced to the Kakadu C line of products by DERMAdoctor, which piqued my interest because I had never heard of the kakadu plum before. I immediately went to Youtube to see what people are saying about this fruit. According to the gals over at Allure, kakadu plum is the “hottest” new beauty ingredient. In the video below they explain how it can benefit your skin and the different products that contain this superfood ingredient.
What I also learned about the kakadu plum is that it was used for medicinal purposes back in the day because of its antiseptic, healing properties. The Aboriginal people of Australia even used the bark in their tea. Other benefits of kakadu plum include aiding in digestion, weight loss, and it even helps maintain healthy human tissues to prevent cancer. I also came across this article with a table that lists other nutrition facts.
Unless you live in a country that grows the kakadu plum, you’ll be hard-pressed to find this fruit. It is offered in different forms online such as freeze dried powder, liquid extract, juice, or whole & pureed.
Another superfruit I’ve been researching lately is the goji berry, which is typically found in European and Asian countries. Like the kakadu plum, this fruit has been around for a very long time and was used in traditional medicine. Goji berries are also chocked full of Vitamin C and a great source of amino acids, which aid in collagen production.
According to this article over at LiveStrong.com, goji berries can reduce the amount of damage done by UV radiation, improve energy levels, and are full of cancer-fighting antioxidants.
Have you tried any skin care products that contain kakadu plum or goji berry? I’d love to hear about your experiences, so please do leave a comment.
