Mother Dirt Bundle Review

Mother Dirt Bundle Review

I remember being in my 20’s not really caring too much about what I put my skin. I was young and indestructible, after all. I washed my face with soap and water, then proceeded to go without moisturizer. Yeah, I know…crazy, right?

Well, I may be paying for it now. Thankfully, it’s never too late to take care of your skin.

I’ve been on this journey of detoxing my skin and body for the past month. I don’t wear as much makeup as before, I’ve been drinking lemon water, and I’m also making a conscious effort to use healthy beauty products.

It was the perfect time for me to learn about Mother Dirt, whose motto is “Rethink Clean”. The hippie in me completely resonated with the brand, so when I was offered the opportunity to try out the products, I replied with a resounding, “Yes, please!”

Mother Dirty has an interesting story, and the science behind their products is even more interesting. I mean, live bacteria on your skin? When one hears the word “bacteria”, the mind goes to scary thoughts of sickness and disease. What I’ve learned is that there is AOB (Ammonia Oxidizing Bacteria) that naturally populates our skin, but the use of products like toxic soaps, deodorants, and shampoo/conditioners have stripped all the AOB. This is probably why so many of us experience dry skin.

I received the Mother Dirt Bundle to review that includes the AO+ Mist, Shampoo, and Cleanser.

The AO+ Mist is a spray that contains live AOB, is fragrance-free, and preservative-free. The shelf life for it is about 8 weeks, but if you keep it in the fridge it will last much longer. Just spray it on the areas where you sweat and it goes to work. I’ve been using it on my face, neck, and my armpits. I haven’t been been completely comfortable with using it without deodorant yet (habits plus a paranoia of smelling really bad are hard to break), but I have been able to go every other day without re-applying deodorant.

My skin after using AO+ MistSince using the AO+ Mist I’ve also noticed that the skin around my neck is not itchy, dry and blotchy like it used to be. This issue started about a year ago, and no matter how much lotion I put on my neck, it was still get dry and blotchy red. This happened mainly at night.

The Mother Dirt Cleanser can be used all over your body including your face. It has a light, foamy texture and a little goes a long way. I’ve been using it mainly on my face.

What I’m really blown away by is that after using the cleanser and then spraying the mist on my face I don’t even need to apply moisturizer! That’s HUGE for me because in the past I’ve had to practically plaster my face with moisturizer immediately after washing or else it became as dry as the Mojave desert.

As for the shampoo, it has a clear gel-like consistency, and just like the mist and cleanser it is preservative and fragrance-free. It does lather up just a little, but does not contain sulfate, which is a big plus because it seems like every other product on the market contains sulfate these days. I tried to use the shampoo by itself, but because my hair is extra dry and thick, it was hard to go without conditioner.

The majority of the ingredients for the cleanser and shampoo are plant-based…

Mother Dirt ingredients

Keep in mind that because these products don’t have preservatives, they expire 8 weeks after opening them. You have the option to sign up for monthly or quarterly deliveries so you never have to worry about running out.

After using Mother Dirt, it’s really hard to go back to your run-of-the-mill drugstore hair and skin products. For $69 you get all three products, which I think is a pretty decent investment for healthy skin. I’d rather spend that than spend $10-$15 for a product with tons of toxic ingredients.
