As a huge proponent of using natural beauty products, I love the idea of being able to create your own skin care recipes using things you probably already have in your kitchen. If you want to save money on beauty products, check out these five super easy DIY skin care recipes…
For Dry Skin
If you have the dry skin blues, check out this recipe from Good Housekeeping: Mix together 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon sour cream, 1 tablespoon honey, and one egg white. Apply to face and let dry before rinsing.
Did you know? Cocoa is full of antioxidants that help repair skin cells and neutralize harmful free radicals.
Buttermilk isn’t just for dipping chicken nuggets into. I found out on IndianBeautySpot.com that you can use it as a facial mask too. Wet a paper towel with the buttermilk and apply it to your face for about 10 minutes. Rinse off gently.
I’ve never had any issues shaving with just soap and water, but I really like this homemade shaving scrub recipe from MothersNiche.com: Simply mix coconut oil and sugar into a consistency that you like. Apply it to your legs, shave, and Voila! Sexy and smooth legs.
Acne or Zits
Dilute apple cider vinegar in water (about a 1:1 ratio) and dab on the zits with a Q-tip or cotton ball. My favorite brand is Bragg’s organic apple cider vinegar.
This easy recipe comes from TheBeautyBean.com: Mix ground up oats with argan oil and gently rub it on your face in an upward, circular motion. Rinse off with warm water.
While researching different DIY recipes, I came across this video in which Veronica Gorgeois advises not to use items such as baking soda and lemons on your face…
