Oh, do I love a stylish jacket. In my 20’s I was known as the “Jacket Queen” with at least ten jackets hanging in my closet. My favorite jacket of all-time is the denim jacket, but the one style that I consider a staple for winter is the down jacket.
Now that we’re halfway through winter, maybe that stylish new down jacket you own is hardly worn because you’re still not quite sure how to style it. If you’re like me, you might have a puffy down jacket that you do wear year after year, (when I visit colder areas, of course!) but now you’re wondering how you can wear it so that it looks fresh and modern. Here are a few ideas:
Put a Belt Over It
If you’re afraid of looking like a big puffy marshmallow, wear a stylish belt over it. If you have a long jacket that goes down below your waist, any belt width would look good. You could even add a little spice with a colored belt. Some jackets already come with belts like this gorgeous Guy Laroche mid-length cashmere coat from ML Furs. It accentuates the waist and creates a more feminine look.
Skinny Jeans and Tall Boots
The last thing you want to do is look frumpy in a down jacket. My favorite way to style it is to wear a thin sweater, skinny jeans, and tall boots. Yes, I do believe skinny jeans are here to stay, ladies, but if that’s just not your thing, then maybe a pair of comfortable leggings with a fun print will do.
Casual Ski Bunny
If your coat is shorter in length, then you could dress it down if you’re headed to the ski slopes for the day. Straight-leg jeans or ski pants and snow boots is a stylish, yet casual look. I absolutely love the luxurious look of a hooded jacket with fur trim around the hood. This white ski jacket (another one available at ML Furs) has just been added to my wishlist.
