It’s the New Year, so hey, why not try something new? After all, I’m always encouraging readers of this blog to get out of a beauty and fashion rut, so I have to take my own advice, right? As a matter of fact, my friend and I have challenged ourselves to do something new each day, so today was the day to wear green eyeliner.
Wearing green eyeliner is a little out of my comfort zone. If you’ve been reading this blog, you know how I like to keep things simple and natural when it comes to makeup. I think the last time I wore green eyeliner was in high school (or was that blue eyeliner?)
If it were up to me, I would have preferred wearing a dark emerald green eyeliner, but I have the emerald green that came with Stila’s “Color Outside the Lines” set (Such a fitting name for this challenge!) from their holiday collection. It actually looks more like a grass green than an emerald green to me.
I’ve worn all of the colors except this green, which was just there…waiting for its time to shine…
As soon I looked in the mirror after applying the liner, my first thought was, Wow! This looks great. Why did I wait so long to try this out?!? However, despite thinking this, I still felt a bit self-conscious as I was out and about today. Every time someone looked at me, I thought they were staring at my green eyeliner. I know that it’s nonsense to think that, but it must be the inner insecure 13-year-old girl that hasn’t quite left the home of my subconscious yet.
I love the retro tin holder of this eyeliner collection. Definitely going to upcycle it in the future to hold all the lipgloss I carry around in my purse…
I like that the eyeliners are easy to wear. You don’t have to sharpen them – just twist and apply. If you like to smudge your eyeliner, you’ll like this set because they have a soft, creamy texture. I just have to remember not to rub my eyes, which I tend to do sometimes. Otherwise, I end up looking like a hot mess.
The colors are perfect for me. And now I feel comfortable wearing the emerald color!
Ulta has this set on sale right now for $15 (regularly $34).
