Signs of fall are finally here, and the cooler season just can’t seem to come fast enough for me! I would be remiss if I started my favorite time of the year without mentioning some of my favorite fashion trends that were featured on the runways…
Grey Is the New Neutral
Fifty Shades of Grey is not only a bestselling book, it apparently was one of the themes for fall fashion shows. Every fall there’s one color that becomes the neutral for the season, and grey seems to be that color for 2013. Designers such as Philip Lim, Rag & Bone, Carolina Herrera, and Oscar de La Renta featured greys on the runways.
Fabulous Fall Florals
Don’t put away those florals quite yet because you can now incorporate them into your fall wardrobe. Florals are bold and edgy, yet still feminine and flirty. One way to wear this trend is to pair earthy tones with basic black. For an everyday casual look, I would wear a floral top with a pair of dark jeans and tall black boots.

Footwear With Chunky Soles
When I think of chunky soles, I think of the Doc Martens I wore back in the 90’s, a style I actually wouldn’t mind wearing again for fall because they’re flat boots. However, if that’s not your look at all, then perhaps stylish clogs, heeled loafers (another 90’s revival), or geisha wedges may be right up your alley. Because chunky soled shoes can make an outfit look very bottom-heavy, I would recommend balancing it out with a full skirt that falls right below the knees. And wouldn’t you know, full skirts are another big trend for fall as well!
I absolutely love these Hemingway ankle boots from DUO with the leather button detailing…If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you know how much I love boots for fall (A must-have basic!), and DUO has an awesome selection of stylish boots.
They’re not necessarily “trends” per se, because if a style is deemed classic and comes back every season, then wouldn’t it be an oxymoron to call it trendy? Somehow, prints like plaid and camouflage seem to always make their way back with a little twist every fall. Designers like Christopher Kane, Alice + Olivia, and Tommy Hilfiger gave us a fresh take on tried-and-true classics.
Always remember: Take whatever fall trend you gravitate towards and make it your own. As I’ve always said, there’s nothing like expressing your unique style and wearing outfits with confidence and grace!
