In one of my recent posts I talked about the two spring fashion trends that I’m looking forward to wearing, and although stripes is more of a classic look rather than a “trend”, designers and fashion brands have given us fresh new looks so that stripes are not just boring ole stripes.
Marc Jacobs offered up an impeccably beautiful spring 2013 collection where stripes took center stage. What can be so beautiful about black and white stripes, you say? Not only did he give us classic 60’s pieces that, in my book, will be pieces that we can wear forever, but the stripes come in different sizes…and he mixed it up with other graphic patterns. It’s so simple, yet so artistic.
For a more casual everyday look for spring, I prefer t-shirts and maxi skirts. Below is an outfit you could wear to run errands, pick up the kids from school, and do household chores in. What I like about the Voi Jeans t-shirt is the monotone color blocking, plus that front pocket is fun and different. For those of you UK readers, the official Voi website has a nice selection of striped t-shirts and tops in various styles.

You can modernize the classic striped polo shirt by pairing it with vertical stripes
and trendy accessories. This is another Voi Jeans top available at Box Clothing.

Today I went shopping for striped pieces and was reminded that stripes are a little tricky to wear because they can sometimes make you look wider than you are. Vertical stripes are good if you want to look taller, but I didn’t come across any striped pants that I liked.
I ended up buying the striped pencil skirt and a long-sleeved striped top. I couldn’t pass up these deals at Forever 21, especially the skinny jeans in my favorite color.
