Scents of Love: For Perfume Lovers

What does love smell like to you? Does it smell sweet? Like a flower? Or does it smell like a woodsy forest during the spring?

The scent of love can be anything you imagine. If you’re looking for inspiration to create that scent for yourself on Valentine’s Day and all year round, here are some ideas…

One of the scents that I’m loving right now is Vince Camuto’s Eau de Parfum. The top notes are infused with rum absolute and osmanthus nectar. There are hints of floral such as Bulgarian rose and jasmine along with leather. Finish the mix with vanilla, absolute, patchouli, and Brazilian amber to create an ooh la la scent that’s part sultry and part sweet.

Lady Gaga’s “Fame” perfume was a pleasant surprise because it’s a sweet scent as opposed to something more bold. It’s right up there with one of my favorites, and something I’d put on for a romantic night with my special guy, if you know what I mean 🙂 The packaging is chic with the black liquid and gold – something you would expect from Miss Gaga herself. Notes include: belladonna, incense, apricot, honey drops, tiger orchidea, and jasmin sambac.

Another scent with fun packaging is Guess Girl’s eau de toilette. Wearing this scent brings to mind flirty and girly dresses with bows and bright flowers. It’s half floral and half fruity, which creates a fun and sexy scent. Notes: nectar, Brazilian paradise orchid, Provencal acacia and lilies, plus Australian sandalwood and Madagascar vanilla.

Vivacious is the first word that comes to mind when I smell True Religion’s “Hippie Chic” eau de parfum. The hippie flower child in me likes the doodle art on the box and the charms on the bottle. This is another sweet and floral combination that is surprisingly addictive, consisting of raspberry, pomegranate, Fuji apple, star jasmine, hibiscus, muguet, sheer woods and musk.

If you like fun, sweet, and fruity scents for daytime, I recommend Candied Citron and Clementine Crush from Love & Toast. These come in roller balls, so it’s easy to throw in your purse! What I like about Love & Toast is that they give a portion of every sale to Regional Affiliates of Girls, Inc., inspiring young girls to be “Smart, strong and bold.” If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is!

BCBGMaxazria’s “Bon Chic” eau de parfum is all about portraying glamour, which is evident by the gold box and sculpture-like bottle. Although it does have fruity notes, the floral seems to dominate. It isn’t too overpowering, yet it’s very seductive and confident. Notes include: black raspberry, Asian pear, mango, peony, violet, orange blossom, soft woods, vanilla and cashmere musk.

I asked my fiance what comes to mind when he smells Jessica Simpson’s Vintage Bloom, and he says, “It’s floral…and erotic.” My thoughts exactly. Notes feature lemon, Caipirinha lime zest, raspberry blossom, peony, musk and sandalwood.

Soul2Soul by Faith Hill has an interesting mix of floral and sweet that is reminiscent of a bright colorful garden on a breezy summer’s day. Notes include: peach, grapefruit, immortelle, rose, lotus, cucumber, and sandalwood.

I love that my dresser now looks like a museum of colorful perfume sculptures…

Which of these perfumes do you have? Do you have a favorite?
