When I was a young girl, I always looked forward to getting the JCPenney catalog in the mail. I don’t know how big the catalog is nowadays, but back then it was about two inches thick and weighed about a ton. I would spend hours browsing through it circling and bookmarking everything that I wanted. JCPenney was one of the department stores to shop in back in the 80’s and now the company is trying to remain relevant in a Macy’s/Kohl’s world.
For Christmas I received a gift card for JCPenney, so a couple weekends ago I thought it was time to spend it. It’s been awhile since I’ve been in one of their stores, so I was pleasantly surprised to find a couple pieces that I really like – a denim pencil skirt and an oh, so cute grey dress from the I *Heart* Ronson line by Charlotte Ronson.
I was also pleasantly surprised to discover the MNG by Mango collection which was launched this past fall. Shopping in this department actually felt like I was shopping in a high-end store.
Also, if you didn’t know… There are mini Sephora’s in JCPenney stores as well.
One thing I learned from this shopping trip is that you can’t underestimate the old-school department stores. Next stop: Sears!
