How to Stay Motivated and Inspired to Exercise

Walking along the trailFinding the motivation to exercise on a regular basis can be a challenge. As I said in my previous post about exercise, blogging about it helps keep it at the forefront of my mind. It also helps that I have a very active fiance who also inspires me to exercise.

My favorite form of exercise is to go walking. It doesn’t put any strain on my body and I can simply enjoy the sights along the way. There’s a trail not too far from my house that goes around this huge park and golf course. I always enjoy looking at the ducks and birds hanging out by the lake.

I’ve tried walking on the treadmill at the gym, but it’s not nearly as enjoyable. I look forward to being outdoors because I’m usually inside most of the day working.

People are motivated by different things and have different reasons for exercising, but I do know that getting exercise on a regular basis is not only healthy, but you are a much happier person as well.

What Inspires You to Exercise?

I was reading an article the other day about Kelly Osbourne and how she stays motivated when exercising. She says that she wears makeup because she doesn’t like to look in the mirror while she’s working out and seeing her nasty, sweaty face.

I say, whatever you need to do to inspire you to keep exercising!

Here are a couple things that I like to do to keep myself inspired:

1. Listen to dance tunes – I created a playlist of dance tunes on my phone to listen to while I walk.  I recommend SexyBack by Justin Timberlake!

2. I wear cute workout clothes. If I go out and buy workout clothes, I’m going to feel compelled to wear them. I look good which makes me feel good while I’m exercising.

3. Create a vision board. Awhile back I put together a collage of images that reflected good health and exercise. Having a visual image that I can see on a regular basis keeps me inspired.
